We are recruiting in the following region: Bedfordshire
Location: Bedfordshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (Flexibility may be required in line with business and learner needs)
Purpose of the Role
The Construction Tutor will support learners throughout their training journey, working closely with employers and workplace supervisors to achieve contract outcomes. The role focuses on delivering high-quality training aligned with awarding body and funding requirements, while supporting learners to develop skills for lifelong learning and employment. You will identify individual learning needs, address barriers to employment, and provide guidance to help learners succeed in their chosen construction programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver construction training programmes, ensuring achievement within agreed timescales and maintaining quality standards
- Identify learner needs through one-to-one assessment and initial interviews
- Plan, deliver, and review engaging lesson plans tailored to individual and group learning needs
- Use a variety of delivery methods to engage learners and improve retention, including practical and off-site activities
- Monitor learner progress and provide regular feedback, reviews, and support
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including training plans, reviews, and administrative records
- Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, equality, and diversity policies are consistently applied
- Liaise with employers and stakeholders to support learner development and progression
- Promote positive behaviour, attendance, and discipline in line with programme requirements
- Contribute to quality assurance processes, including assessment and verification activities
- Support continuous improvement through ongoing CPD and reflective practice
- Provide up-to-date management information and reports as required
- Support the promotion and growth of training provision through engagement and marketing activities
- Maintain effective communication with internal teams regarding learner progress
- Carry out additional duties as required by management
Scope of the Role
- Occasional flexibility required outside standard working hours
- Travel across a wide geographical area may be required
- Overnight stays may occasionally be necessary
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (desirable)

Qualifications
- D32/33, A1, CAVA or equivalent
- Relevant construction NVQ or occupational competency
- Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards)
- D34 / V Units / TDLB Level 3
Experience & Knowledge
- Occupationally competent in construction in line with awarding body requirements
- Experience with assessment processes and associated documentation
- Familiarity with e-portfolio systems (e.g. OneFile)
- Experience in mentoring, coaching, or learner support
- Strong IT skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Good levels of literacy and numeracy
