A purpose-led organisation based in East London is looking to appoint a Network Security Engineer on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an opportunity to join a business with a strong social impact, supporting the security and resilience of critical technology services. This role would suit someone with a strong networking foundation and proven hands-on security experience, particularly across technical security assessments, operational monitoring, vulnerability triage, and security tooling.
The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening the organisation’s security posture across network infrastructure, tooling, and operational processes. The role will involve both day-to-day security monitoring activity and broader engineering work, including integrations, tooling configuration, and continuous improvement across security and network operations.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out technical security assessments across network and security environments
- Support the implementation and integration of security technologies and controls
- Monitor service availability and help identify, investigate, and respond to security threats
- Triage vulnerabilities and work with internal teams to support remediation activity
- Use, maintain, and configure SIEM and monitoring tools across NOC and SOC environments
- Gather and analyse information from a wide range of security and infrastructure tools
- Handle operational tickets, escalations, and incident support across 1st and 2nd line activity
- Develop and improve NOC and SOC procedures and support operational best practice
- Work closely with Security Analysts and wider teams on threat mitigation and incident response
- Support and train monitoring engineers within live operations environments
- Previous experience in a Network Security Engineer, Security Operations, Technical Assurance, or similar role
- Strong background in networking, with a solid understanding of secure network design and operations
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as Zscaler, Palo Alto, and Vault
- Experience working within SOC and/or NOC environments, including monitoring and incident support
- Knowledge of SIEM platforms, vulnerability triage, and security event analysis
- Experience identifying security threats and supporting incident response activity
- Comfortable working across both operational support and engineering/improvement work
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams
- Experience implementing or supporting security integrations
- Exposure to security monitoring in regulated, public sector, or mission-driven environments
- Experience helping to define or improve operational security procedures and processes
Salary of circa £60,000 - £70,000. 12-month fixed-term contract. Strong possibility of the role converting into a permanent position. Opportunity to join an organisation with a genuine social purpose. An East London-based role with a hybrid working environment.
