Associate Data Solutions Engineer / Architect

Salary: up to Β£84,000

Location: Manchester or London, hybrid, with at least 2 days a week in the office

Few organisations make decisions that affect almost everyone in the UK, and beyond. This is one of them. As a Data Solutions Architect, you'll turn complex data into the clear insight those decisions rely on, while helping move the platform to Microsoft Fabric and AI-assisted automation.

What you'll actually do

  • Combine and analyse several datasets, such as licensing and external measurement data, to answer real regulatory questions.
  • Help shape the move from Databricks and Azure Data Factory to Microsoft Fabric, including simpler, more automated ways to bring in and transform data.
  • Work across several regulatory areas in your first six months, each with its own data and challenges.
  • Design solutions that fit the problem, weighing up cost, risk and value before choosing the technology.
  • Explain your thinking clearly to technical teams and policy colleagues alike.

What you'll need

  • Solid experience in data engineering, analytics or data platforms.
  • Exposure to modern Microsoft data tools, particularly Fabric or Synapse.
  • A track record of picking up new technologies on your own.
  • A habit of understanding the problem before reaching for a tool.
  • The judgement to question outputs and recommendations, including those generated by AI.

Nice to have:

  • A background in Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
  • Microsoft certifications in Fabric or Azure data engineering.

What's in it for you

Interesting, varied data problems with a clear public purpose, and a platform still being designed, so your ideas will shape it. You'll have a long-term roadmap and a Principal Architect to learn from.
