An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Clinical Sciences team as a Trial Manager. The role will be based at the Global Health Trials Unit (GHTU), where you will play a key role in operational planning, coordination and delivery of clinical research projects, ensuring studies are conducted efficiently, compliantly and to the highest standards of quality.
As Trial Manager, you will work in close collaboration with the Head of GHTU, Chief/Principal Investigators, Programme Managers, Data Managers, Medical Statisticians, In-country partners and other relevant stakeholders. You will be part of the GHTU Trial Management team and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a small portfolio of trials, ensuring compliance with ICH GCP, regulatory and ethical requirements, maintaining trial documentation, supporting recruitment and follow-up, and contributing to wider GHTU activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the efficient day-to-day management of clinical trials, including approvals, site set-up, recruitment, follow-up and close-down.
- Developing procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory, ethical and governance requirements, as well as trial protocols.
- Managing stakeholder communications, including Trial Steering Committees and Data Safety Monitoring Committees, and coordinating preparation of reports, data and publications.
- Preparing, maintaining and archiving Trial Master Files (TMF) and Site Investigator Files to GCP standards.
- Working closely with Data Managers and Statisticians to ensure timely and accurate data collection, query resolution and high-quality trial outputs.
- Supporting the development of study documentation, training packages and trial-specific instructions, and assisting with training delivery for collaborating sites.
- Supervising, training and appraising trial team members, including Study Coordinators and Trial Administrators.
- Contributing to GHTU processes and visibility through authorship of SOPs, preparation of reports, stakeholder engagement, and study-related communications.
Qualifications and skills required:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a biomedical/scientific/statistical or allied field, or commensurate experience in clinical trial delivery.
- Demonstrable experience in managing clinical trials, including trial approvals, documentation, recruitment, and site management.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice, governance, data protection and ethical frameworks.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners.
- Strong initiative and problem-solving ability, with enthusiasm for working in complex and challenging environments.
- You will need to be able to undertake overseas travel periodically for the post.
