We’re growing and looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our project team. You will be part of a team responsible for developing and delivering engineering solutions, from feasibility to detailed engineering design, for Electricity Transmission and Distribution Projects (33 kV and above).
You will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related engineering discipline, such as Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. A-level or equivalent in Maths and aspirations for or working towards membership of a relevant professional body, such as MICE, MIStructE, MIET. Typically, you’ll also have 5-10 years minimum post-graduate industry experience.
Ideally, you will also be competent in the use of industry software such as PLS CADD, PLS Tower, SAPS or other similar packages, with a working knowledge of relevant national and industry standards such as BS EN 50341, the ENATS suite and client specific.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:- Undertake and be responsible for the design and specification of steel overhead line structures and overhead line design systems.
- Take responsibility for project management and ensure the achievement of all deliverables in a timely manner, including financial management and attending site meetings where appropriate.
- Take responsibility for all Health and Safety and CDM issues arising on projects and take a lead role in the development of OHL designs and ensure compliance with legislation.
- Provide technical expertise to the company, reviewing and development of company systems and provision of technical training as appropriate including the mentoring of Junior Engineers.
- Monitor and undertake day-to-day management of all design activities, verification of all work undertaken by your design teams and ensuring compliance with company Quality Procedures.
- Provide site supervision to others and to verify and approve proposed work procedures, designs, drawings, and method statements prior to work commencing.
- Provide guidance and training as appropriate including the mentoring of design team(s).
