The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
To support the Senior Engineers to develop earthing and lightning protection designs and evaluation capacity for a wide range of installations to ensure the safety of workers and members of the public. Undertaking site testing to feed into the design of projects. Managing elements of projects and mentoring graduate and junior engineers.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Developing earthing and lightning protection designs to ensure the safety of workers and members of the public
- Using CDEGS and other design software to create effective and innovative earthing and lightning protection designs
- Undertake and contribute to earth return current calculations
- Creating technical engineering drawings to represent earthing and lightning protection systems
- Undertake Soil Resistivity and/or FOP analysis
- Write technical reports for typical earthing, impressed voltage and lightning protection project scopes
- Have responsibility for the delivery of design on projects, directing the work of the site-based teams and liaising with clients
- With the support of Senior Engineers, developing scope for typical new engineering projects and quotations
- Developing a good rapport with clients to be able to obtain all necessary data to complete a project
- Having financial management responsibility for any project or project element they are responsible for (including understanding value/time input, not going outside scope without VO / part-invoicing etc)
- Undertaking a wide range of field testing and site surveys
- Mentoring graduate and junior engineers.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualifications
- An Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Working towards IEng with the IET or another appropriate body
- Skills
- A full driving licence
- Working knowledge of CDEGS and associated software
- Good understanding of electrical fundamentals and able to apply them to new situations
- A positive attitude, flexible approach with a good work ethic
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills
- Enthusiasm to learn and get involved.
- IT literate and have a good standard of English both verbal and written.
- Good report writing skills
- Willing to occasionally undertake site testing and surveys
- Experience
- Experience of different types of earthing, lightning protection and impressed voltage project
- Relevant CDEGS design software modules to undertake relevant designs/analysis
- Relevant Field Testing and site survey experience
