Trading since 1989, e.surv Chartered Surveyors is the UK\’s number one residential surveyor and the largest provider of property risk expertise and residential surveying services. To put it into numbers, we complete more than one property inspection every 12 seconds and employ over 600 surveyors from Land’s End to John O’Groats and Northern Ireland. This gives us the flexibility to offer nationwide coverage combined with invaluable local knowledge.

We\’re part of the LSL Property Services Group PLC, which includes household names Your Move and Reeds Rains as well as the mortgage network PRIMIS. We work with lenders, intermediaries, social housing entities and estate agents in addition to private customers.

The Surveying Quality Manager will work as part of the wider Technical and Quality teams who assist the Head of Quality in providing advisory services to internal stakeholders. The role will involve active monitoring of surveyor technical compliance and provision of technical guidance to the business and suppliers.

Regular national travel may be required with presence in the Kettering Office (NN15 6PP) to suit business needs.

Main Accountabilities

  • Review of surveyor files (both internal and panel) to ensure compliance with valuation policies. Record results and provide feedback/overview to Operational Managers and surveyor where required. Work closely with Operational Management and Learning and Development to identify appropriate training requirements and to increase compliance rates.
  • Review of surveyor files (both internal and panel) to fulfil specified lender/panel manager contractual requirements relating primarily to comparable evidence/quality of site notes. Reporting findings centrally/direct to client.
  • Review reported valuations where requested by lender clients.
  • Undertake investigations on behalf of the e.surv Customer Care team regarding potential PII claims and report to senior managers.
  • Risk assess internal valuation related policy changes. Identify and escalate proposed changes which have the potential to increase the risk profile of business. Provide summary of proposed changes and impact assessment to HoQ.
  • Support Learning and Development team in creating learning material covering a range of subjects relating to internal policies, statutory and regulatory changes. This may involve delivery of presentations/webinars to surveyors.
  • Review internal audit findings to identify any requirements for form mapping improvements and guidance. Ensure any identified changes are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Development of new and maintenance of existing guidance and policies to ensure internal staff and e.surv consultants are provided with an accurate overview of guidance relating to lender form completion.
  • Arrange for distribution of any relevant documentation to the wider panel as required.
  • Provide assistance to the Communications Team to enable notifications to be issued to the wider business which provide clear confirmation of guidance and policy changes.
  • Support (Business to Customer) team with product technical support and quality control. Including Private Valuation and Level 2 products.
  • Deliver regular presentations at SQM team meetings on a range of issues relating to residential survey and valuation. Provide support to the HoQ in development of new products. This will involve assisting in the development assessment and testing of technical proposals received from suppliers.
  • Provide assistance to Area Managers and Strategic Relationship Managers in resolving escalated cases where specialist technical/valuation knowledge is required.

Regular attendance and contribution to Area Manager meetings to gain a full understanding of current and future business needs. Provide summary of issues arising to SQM’s and HoQ to ensure consistency.

Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to analyse the result of PVQ reviews in order identify areas where additional guidance and/or revisions to existing form mapping is required.

Knowledge and Expertise (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role)

Essential

  • Detailed knowledge of RICS “Red Book” requirements.
  • Knowledge of current trends and emerging issues in residential surveying and valuation.
  • Proven practical expertise in completing a wide range of valuation and survey instructions.

Experience

  • Proven experience of working as part of a team of remote and office based qualified surveyors.
  • Experience of producing technical guidance for a wide audience of clients and internal stakeholders, and panel suppliers.

Desirable

  • Experience in residential surveying and valuation market.
  • Understanding of the end-to-end mortgage origination process.

Qualifications

  • Minimum AssocRICS, (MRICS. FRICS desirable).
  • Valuer Registration Scheme accreditation
