LSI London and Cambridge are seeking experienced and qualified Directors of Studies to lead academic delivery across their main school and summer centres, with the potential for progression into full-time, year-round employment following the summer period.

Position Overview

This role is ideal for an experienced Director of Studies who is committed to academic excellence, teacher development, and delivering engaging learning experiences for both young learners and adults. As Director of Studies, you will be responsible for academic leadership and the effective day-to-day running of the department. Working closely with the School Director, you will lead a team of EFL teachers, oversee academic operations, and ensure students receive a structured, supportive, and high-quality learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help to review, develop, and update syllabi and teaching materials
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high academic standards across all classes
  • Oversee student placement, assessment procedures, and academic reporting

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Lead teacher inductions and provide ongoing academic guidance and support
  • Line manage a team of seasonal EFL teachers
  • Support staff in delivering engaging, learner-centred lessons using up-to-date materials and approaches

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with British Council standards and safeguarding requirements
  • Work closely with leadership teams to ensure smooth and effective programme delivery
  • Contribute to ongoing quality assurance, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement

  • Experience teaching or supporting young learners and adults
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and team leadership skills
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced academic programme
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
  • Confidence using academic systems and administrative processes

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in summer schools or similar programmes
  • Familiarity with British Council standards, inspections, or academic compliance
  • Experience delivering CPD sessions or mentoring teaching staff
  • Proficiency with platforms such as Microsoft SharePoint and Google Drive
