The Strategy Manager is a UK-based role within Risk Intelligence at LSEG, supporting multifaceted strategy projects and decision support within the financial crime and compliance industry. The role supports the strategy team through market research, competitive context gathering, strategic framing and narrative development to shape projects. Over time, it is also expected to build deeper familiarity with the analytical work that tests and refines that framing, recognising that effective strategy work is iterative, and that analysis and story development inform one another throughout a project. This role will coordinate across the RI and wider LSEG org and reports to the Head of Strategy.

This role plays a crucial part in driving strategy projects forward by researching relevant project context, framing the opportunity/problem and building the initial narrative. As projects progress, the role will also help connect deeper analytical findings back into that framing so the overall storyline, implications and decision support, ultimately supporting higher quality business decisions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct strategy research, including market, competitor, commercial or internal context research as relevant to the project.
  • Support multifaceted strategy projects by clarifying the strategic question, framing the problem, shaping hypotheses and identifying the choices or trade-offs the work needs to inform.
  • Develop initial strategy framing, working storylines and narrative structure that can guide analysis, discussion and decision support.
  • Work iteratively with deeper analytical inputs as they emerge, using them to test, refine and sometimes re-frame the initial story.
  • Synthesise research, working assumptions and analytical findings into concise decision-support materials that highlight implications, trade-offs and open questions.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, standardise and scale recurring elements of strategy work, and develop practical solutions that improve efficiency, consistency and team capacity.
  • Build and refine repeatable tools, templates and ways of working that support upfront strategy research, project framing and decision support, while allowing the work to evolve as deeper analysis tests and strengthens the initial framing and narrative.
  • Coordinate with the India-based Data Analyst, Strategy Operations & Reporting role on recurring reporting, process and data maintenance tasks, providing clear briefs, priorities and feedback as needed.

Required Experience:

  • 2–5 years of relevant strategy, consulting or investment banking experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: strategy, strategic planning, consulting, corporate planning or decision-support work, with enough depth to take on higher-level strategy research, upfront framing and synthesis.
  • Experience conducting market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions.
  • Ability to translate broad strategic questions into clear hypotheses, work-plans, framing and decision points.
  • Strong synthesis skills, with the ability to build coherent narratives from incomplete information and refine them as deeper analysis emerges.
  • Comfort working in an iterative strategy-development cycle, where deeper analytical work is used to test, refine and strengthen the initial framing and narrative.
  • Experience coordinating recurring support tasks through another role or support model, with clear briefs and hand-offs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to keep work focused on the decision at hand.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience combining project-based strategy work with recurring reporting and process support.
  • Exposure to deeper analytical work used within strategy projects, even where it has not been the primary focus of the role to date.
  • A strong problem-solving mindset and comfort working in a matrixed organization is critical to success in this role.
  • Exposure to strategy or planning activity in financial crime and compliance.

Candidate profile:

  • Structured and pragmatic, comfortable taking ownership of higher-level research and early strategy framing.
  • Good at moving between research, framing, synthesis and narrative development.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity, able to bring structure to loosely defined strategic questions and move work forward while refining the problem statement as new information emerges.
  • Recognises that strong strategy work is iterative, with deeper analysis used to test and sharpen early thinking rather than sitting separately from it.
  • Brings a practical approach to automation and continuous improvement, with a focus on building scalable ways of working that strengthen the quality and efficiency of strategy support.
  • Clear and concise in written materials and discussion.
