Role Summary
This pivotal role within the FTSE Russell Data and Distribution team is essential for a new company-wide data initiative. As the Data Engineer Team Lead, you will coordinate a small team of 4-5 Data Engineers. Your team will be responsible for identifying, collecting, and interpreting critical business data across the organization. Additionally, you will create reports using PowerBI and other reporting tools. This role requires a confident leader who can also contribute individually. The FTSE Russell data platform runs in AWS, with Python as the core development language. To excel in this role, you must have expert-level experience in AWS, Python, PowerBI, and data management.
What you\\\’ll be doing
- Collaborating with Product Managers and business leaders to identify potential data sources.
- Working with business users to understand data requirements and plan the integration into the Lakehouse.
- Refining and collating data into meaningful outputs using code and configuration as needed.
- Creating PowerBI or other reports for both internal and external consumers.
- Managing the workflow of requests into the team and providing mentorship to the team.
- Defining best practices for building, testing, and deploying reusable code that can run in various scenarios.
What you\\\’ll bring
- Extensive experience with Python.
- Expert-level data and SQL skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong familiarity with AWS components, particularly Athena and Glue.
- Self-starter capable of running multiple work streams simultaneously.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to translate requirements between business and technical users.
- Experience with Iceberg and Lakehouse technologies is a plus.
