The Business Manager plays a key role in supporting the strategic, financial, operational and governance activities of the Primary Markets business.
Working closely with the Primary Markets Leadership Team, the role ensures the effective execution of business priorities, robust performance management, financial oversight, risk management and operational excellence across the division.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, driving reporting, governance, planning and change initiatives while supporting the delivery of strategic objectives and ensuring effective organisational management.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Strategic Planning & Business Performance
- Support the annual strategic planning process, including objective setting, KPI development and business planning.
- Monitor and report progress against strategic objectives, key initiatives and business performance metrics.
- Produce regular management information, dashboards and executive reporting for leadership, governance forums and Group stakeholders.
- Coordinate monthly business reviews and other performance management activities.
- Financial Management
- Support budget planning, forecasting and financial analysis activities across Primary Markets.
- Monitor operating expenditure and financial performance against agreed plans.
- Identify trends, risks and opportunities within financial results and propose remedial actions where required.
- Partner with Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting and forecasting.
- Governance, Risk & Control
- Maintain and enhance business policies, procedures and controls.
- Assist with operational risk management activities and support adherence to LSEG risk and control frameworks.
- Coordinate business continuity, operational resilience and related regulatory obligations.
- Operational Management
- Line Management of Business Management + Sales & Management Support team
- Drive operational efficiency initiatives and continuous improvement activities across the business.
- Coordinate activities across Primary Markets teams to ensure effective prioritisation and delivery.
- Support resource planning, organisational management and workforce reporting.
- Maintain key operational reporting processes and business management tools.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with leadership teams and key stakeholders across Markets, Finance, Risk, Technology, HR and Group Functions.
- Influence decision making through data-driven analysis and recommendations.
- Support leadership meetings, town halls, strategy sessions and executive communications.
- Coach and guide junior colleagues and contribute to the development of the wider Business Management team.
- Project & Change Delivery
- Lead or support cross-functional projects and business initiatives.
- Prepare business cases, presentations, executive briefing materials and Board-level papers.
- Track programme execution and ensure delivery against agreed objectives and timelines.
- Support implementation of strategic and operational change programmes.
Essential
Qualifications & Experience
- Significant experience in business management, strategy, operations, finance, governance or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex information into meaningful insight.
- Experience supporting senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Power Point and Excel.
Desirable
- Experience within capital markets, financial services or exchange infrastructure.
- Knowledge of strategic planning, performance management and financial processes.
- Relevant professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, MBA or equivalent)
