About the role

This apprenticeship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience while working towards a recognised Business Administration qualification. The role supports the day-to-day administration of Adult Maths and English provision and plays an important part in ensuring that programmes run smoothly and that learners receive a positive and well-organised experience.

Working closely with the Curriculum Manager and teaching staff, the apprentice will contribute to the organisation and delivery of courses by supporting administrative processes, maintaining learner records and assisting with communication between staff and students. The role provides broad exposure to the operational side of delivering education programmes and will help develop professional administrative and organisational skills.

The apprentice will assist with maintaining accurate learner records, registers and departmental documentation, ensuring that information is kept up to date and organised. They will support the preparation of documents and information required for meetings, audits and quality processes, and assist with data entry and record keeping using internal systems. The role will also support the administration of courses and learner activities. This includes assisting with enrolment and induction processes, helping communicate important information to learners about timetables and assessments, and supporting the organisation of mock exams, assessments and other course-related activities.

Learners may also approach the apprentice with general queries, so the role involves helping direct students to the appropriate teams or services when needed. Alongside these responsibilities, the apprentice will contribute to wider departmental activities such as organising meetings, enrichment events and departmental initiatives. They may also assist with recruitment and marketing activities including open events or initial assessment sessions.

Throughout the apprenticeship the successful candidate will receive training and support while working towards the Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard. They will take part in regular reviews, training sessions and assessments as part of their professional development.

This role would suit someone who is organised, reliable and interested in developing a career in administration. The successful candidate will have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above, good communication skills and basic IT skills including Microsoft Office. They will be comfortable working as part of a team, willing to learn new systems and committed to maintaining accurate records and supporting colleagues. An interest in working within an education environment is important, and any previous experience in administration, customer service or office work would be beneficial.

The role requires a commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety and maintaining professional standards at all times.
