About the role
Location: Bromley, Orpington or one of our other sites, but travel to other locations as and when required.
Hours/work pattern: 37 hours, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work partly from home.
The Role
We are seeking a Health & Safety Adviser reporting to the Health and Safety Manager as part of the Group Health and Safety Team. The successful candidate will work across a wide range of sectors within our educational group, from Construction Trades to Hair and Beauty to special educational needs. At London and South East Education Group, Health and Safety is everybody’s responsibility. This role supports our staff in meeting that responsibility by:
- Providing advice and guidance.
- Articulating complex technical or legal positions into common sense language and working with a range of stakeholders in a collaborative way.
- Undertaking audits and inspections and producing reports and recommendations.
- Identifying issues in data and trends and proactively following up areas of concern.
- Investigating accidents and incidents where required or supporting others in doing so.
- Understanding and working to an established Service Level Agreement.
The successful candidate will:
- Be a confident Health and Safety professional who thrives in a diverse and often changing workplace.
- Understand and recognise the value of a positive Health & Safety culture.
- Have relevant qualifications at NEBOSH General Certificate or TechIOSH accreditation level or equivalent and must be able to demonstrate that they participate in their own CPD.
- Education sector experience is not essential but the successful candidate must have a broad range of health and safety experience, preferably in more than one sector.
- Ability to work in partnership with internal stakeholders is essential.
