Key Responsibilities
- Data Migration Planning and Cycle Leadership: Own and drive the data migration workstream across mock migrations, testing cycles, cutover rehearsals and production migration. Create and maintain detailed data migration plans covering extraction, mapping, transformation, file preparation, load, validation, reconciliation, defect resolution and rework. Define migration milestones, dependencies, entry/exit criteria, ownership and delivery checkpoints for each data object. Track migration progress, risks, data defects, decisions and actions, escalating issues that could impact the wider implementation plan. Coordinate with programme, customer, functional, technical, testing and business teams while retaining direct ownership of migration delivery.
- Customer Extraction Requirements and Legacy Data Analysis: Work closely with customer data/extraction teams to define the exact data required from the legacy system for each Oracle Fusion object. Translate Oracle Fusion functional and technical requirements into clear legacy extraction specifications, including required fields, selection criteria, effective dating, historical data rules, filters, defaults and valid values. Review customer-generated extracts for completeness, structure, data quality and fitness for migration before transformation and load activities begin. Analyse source data to identify duplicates, missing mandatory values, invalid dates, broken relationships, inconsistent codes, referential integrity issues and other migration risks. Provide actionable feedback to the customer on extraction issues and support iterative correction of source extracts.
- Legacy-to-Fusion Mapping and Migration Design: Create, maintain and mature mapping documents that establish field-level and value-level mappings between legacy systems and Oracle Fusion. Document source fields, Fusion target attributes, transformation rules, defaulting logic, lookup/value mappings, effective-date handling, derivation logic and business rules. Work with HCM and Payroll functional consultants to confirm target configuration, mandatory attributes, business rules, reference data and downstream dependencies. Ensure changes agreed during migration cycles, defect resolution or functional design discussions are reflected in migration mapping and transformation documentation. Identify gaps where legacy data cannot directly support Fusion requirements and define pragmatic transformation, cleansing or defaulting approaches with the relevant stakeholders.
- Hands-on Data Preparation, Transformation and Oracle Fusion Loading: Prepare Oracle Fusion migration templates and load-ready files from customer-provided legacy extracts. Perform data manipulation, transformation, enrichment, formatting and validation using SQL, Excel and other suitable analytical or data-processing tools. Create and execute HCM Data Loader (HDL) files and, where appropriate, HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader (HSDL) or other Oracle-supported loading mechanisms. Manage load sequencing and dependencies between related HCM and Payroll objects to ensure data is loaded in the correct order. Execute loads in Oracle Fusion, review load status and logs, identify failed records, investigate root causes, correct data or file structures and perform re-loads until agreed acceptance criteria are achieved. Differentiate between source-data, mapping, transformation, configuration, environment and load-mechanism issues and route or resolve them appropriately. Provide clear technical and business justification for rejected or failed records and recommend the required corrective action.
- Reconciliation, Validation and Data Quality Assurance: Develop, modify and execute reconciliation reports comparing source data, prepared migration files and successfully loaded Oracle Fusion data. Use SQL and Oracle Fusion reporting tools such as BI Publisher and OTBI to validate migrated data and identify variances. Create object-level validation reports covering record counts, key totals, critical attributes, balances, relationships and other business-significant measures. Perform detailed analytical review of migration results rather than relying only on load success percentages. Investigate reconciliation differences, identify root causes and drive corrective action through source correction, transformation changes, configuration updates or reload. Support business validation by supplying clear reports, exception lists, evidence and explanations that enable customer sign-off.
- Functional, Business and Technical Collaboration: Partner with Oracle Fusion HCM and Payroll functional consultants to understand configuration, statutory/legislative requirements, functional dependencies and object-specific migration requirements. Translate functional requirements into data requirements that customer extraction teams can understand and implement. Work directly with business users to clarify legacy data meaning, validate transformation assumptions and resolve data exceptions. Collaborate with reporting, integration, security and technical teams where migrated data affects downstream processes or reconciliation. Act as the primary data migration point of contact for assigned HCM/Payroll areas and provide confident, evidence-based updates to stakeholders.
- Migration Governance and Continuous Improvement: Maintain clear auditability of migration rules, mapping decisions, file versions, load results, reconciliation evidence and outstanding exceptions. Establish repeatable migration processes, templates, checklists and quality controls across migration cycles. Perform root-cause analysis on recurring migration issues and introduce preventative controls for subsequent cycles. Support cutover planning by defining final extraction windows, load sequence, estimated processing activities, reconciliation steps and business sign-off requirements. Contribute to migration closure reporting, lessons learned and transition of migration knowledge into support or BAU teams where required.
Key Deliverables
- Data Migration Plan: Object-level plan covering extraction, transformation, load, validation, reconciliation, defects, rework and sign-off.
- Mapping Documents: Field/value mapping and business-rule documentation between legacy source data and Oracle Fusion.
- Extraction Requirements: Clear customer-facing specifications defining the shape, content, criteria and history required from source systems.
- Fusion Load Files: Validated HDL/HSDL or other Oracle-supported migration files prepared in the required load sequence.
Required Experience
- Proven experience leading data migration workstreams within Oracle Fusion HCM and/or Payroll implementation programmes.
- Demonstrable experience working directly with customer source-data teams where the customer owns legacy extraction activities.
- Experience completing multiple migration cycles from initial mapping through mock loads, validation, reconciliation, defect resolution, cutover and final production load.
- Track record of personally performing data preparation, file creation, load execution and troubleshooting in addition to migration coordination.
- Experience presenting migration findings, data defects and resolution options to business users, functional consultants and programme leadership.
