We are seeking a Senior Spectrum Consultant or Associate Director to work with and support our existing UK-based advisor team. Ideally you would have more than one of the following:

  • A detailed understanding of both terrestrial and satellite radio communications technologies;
  • Experience of managing radio frequency usage;
  • A good understanding of the implications and implementation of regulatory policy and strategy;
  • Technical analysis skills to inform regulatory decision making.

In addition to delivering services and advice to our public and private sector clients, you will take a leading role for the growth of LS telcom’s radio spectrum consulting practice through the identification of opportunities and the preparation of proposals. LS telcom UK has a flexible working approach with a home-based office and regular in-person interaction with the team. You will enjoy regular international travel either to our company’s group headquarters in Germany or to customer locations globally. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

You will be actively engaging with clients worldwide including regulators, space agencies, operators and top industry players. Leading and participating in a wide range of projects supporting our clients to efficiently manage the spectrum. Depending on experience there will be the opportunity to develop LS telcom UK’s engagement with key industry and government stakeholders across all relevant sectors. We are looking for senior level consultants to grow our UK team. Opportunities at Associate Director and Director level are also available for the right candidate.

Experience, Skills and Knowledge – Essential

  • Experience with at least two wireless technologies and the ability to explain these to a non-technical audience;
  • Ability to apply research and analysis to complex, multi-disciplinary (i.e. technical, commercial, regulatory) problems;
  • Interference assessment experience and radio planning analysis (previous use of radio planning tools would be an advantage). Ability to produce coexistence studies suitable for submission to international bodies such as the ITU-R and CEPT;
  • Eye for detail with analytical skills – enabling analysis of complex requirements leading through the project cycle to the development and implementation of client focused solutions;
  • Ability to identify and convert consulting opportunities in radio spectrum related fields;
  • Ability to prepare deliverables to the satisfaction of clients within agreed budget and time constraints;
  • Ability to manage own work and lead associated project teams, bringing established subject matter expertise both personally contributing to projects and supporting the inputs of others;
  • Proficient in report writing and drafting presentations using Office Software.

Experience, Skills and Knowledge – Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience of the international and national frameworks for spectrum management including work within ITU-R and/or CEPT (or equivalent);
  • Demonstrable experience of working on satellite (LEO/MEO/GEO) based topics relating to regulations, technology market access, coordination and ITU filings would be desirable;
  • Practical experience of spectrum management policy implementation at an organisational, national, regional or international level;
  • Knowledge of using MATLAB and/or other software simulation tool is desirable;
  • Proven experience of developing and maintaining positive customer relationships with a view to business development and growth;
  • Ability to share knowledge and provide thought leadership to other team members;
  • Experience in delivering technical training on radio spectrum topics and telecommunications technologies.
