Reporting into the Regional Sales Director, the purpose of the Commercial Bid Manager is:

  • End-to-End Bid Management: Lead the entire bid lifecycle, from identifying initial customer requirements and managing 'Go/No-Go' decisions to the final submission of detailed technical proposals.
  • Commercial Strategy & Win Themes: Develop compelling value propositions that highlight LRQA's differentiators. Identify, grow and develop new tender opportunities via portals, partnerships, sales teams, social media, networking, marketing, etc.
  • Bid writing: Write and support winning bids based on proven delivery.
  • Pricing & Risk Modelling: Build complex financial models for large-scale tenders, accounting for global labour costs, travel logistics, and technical resource utilization.
  • Creation and development of Bid library.
  • Cross Sell all service portfolio: ensure all value adds, additional services and future solutions are included in every bid.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with Technical Product Leads, Service Delivery Managers, and Legal teams to ensure all bids are operationally feasible and commercially sound.
  • Contractual Oversight: Review and negotiate terms and conditions for major contracts to mitigate commercial and technical risks.

Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in bid management, ideally within the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) sector or high-stakes professional services.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with international standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code) and supply chain inspection services.
  • Financial Acumen: Advanced proficiency in Excel for cost modelling and a strong understanding of profit and loss (P&L) impact in a service-based business.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple complex, multi-workstream bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Communication & Writing: Exceptional proposal writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical data into clear, persuasive narratives for C-suite clients.
