The Sales Engineer is the key member of our client’s account team that maintains the technical relationship with our customers. In creating and maintaining these relationships the SE will develop, design and present solutions to our customers based on the capabilities of our client’s portfolio of products. Over the lifecycle of the customer’s journey the SE will also help modify and grow our client’s solution with the customer’s business ensuring a long term strategic partnership is in place and value has been realized. The Sales Engineer will be expected to work closely with the direct and channel sales teams to help drive growth, evangelize to channel sellers and technical teams with the ultimate goal of acquiring new clients. The Sales Engineer should prioritize customer goals and objectives; lead them through their unstructured data cloud journey; act as a trusted advisor and make recommendations aligning with our client’s best practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide in-depth technical knowledge and support for our client’s products and solutions for your customers
- Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and tailor solutions accordingly to achieve customer success
- Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the features and benefits of our client’s offerings tailored to the customers’ needs and requirements
- Design and develop customized solutions to meet specific customer requirements and prepare and deliver technical proposals, RFPs, and bids to potential clients
- Create technical documentation of customer environments and provide best practices for managing them in private or public cloud deployments
- Run proof of concept projects for customers based on their needs and requirements proving value can be obtained through the solution and products that have been leveraged in the customer design
- Offer post-sales support and guidance to ensure customer satisfaction and address any technical issues
- Stay updated with industry trends, product developments, and competitive landscape to provide relevant insights
- Provide feedback to product development teams based on customer needs and experiences
Technical Expertise
- NAS & SAN Protocol s: Demonstrate strong troubleshooting knowledge of protocols such as CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, FC, and RAID
- Networking: Possess a solid understanding of networking, network performance monitoring, and diagnostics
- Operating Systems: Familiarity with Linux, UNIX, FreeBSD, and/or Windows at a sysadmin level
- Communication Protocols: Understand NFS, CIFS, SSL/TLS, and SSH communications
- Data Management Methodology Understanding: Proficiency in Enterprise Data Management Methods, specifically around how customers look at Security, Backup, Governance and Compliance, and Archiving practices for their data. Knowledge of various tools that help meet these needs a plus
- Virtualization: Understand VM setup and performance analysis (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, AHV, and/or Amazon/Azure/Google compute instances)
- Cloud Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of AWS or Azure Cloud Environments for storage, compute, availability, and redundancy options. Including AWS FSx
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Solutions Architect or Pre-Sales Engineer role with a background in unstructured data, file, backup & archive data management is a plus
- A minimum of 5 years experience with file, object, and cloud storage solutions is preferred
- Cloud certifications for AWS, Azure, or GCP or experience working with object storage providers is a plus
- Travel up to 10-15% depending on client preference
