About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Court of Protection Paralegal to join our specialist team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in mental capacity law who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and reputable legal practice.
You will work closely with fee-earners, clients, families, and professional deputies, assisting in matters relating to property and financial affairs, welfare applications, and ongoing deputyship management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with Court of Protection applications, including deputyship, statutory wills, and trustee appointments
- Drafting legal documents, witness statements, letters, and forms
- Managing a caseload under supervision and maintaining accurate file records
- Liaising with clients, vulnerable individuals, family members, care providers, and third parties
- Supporting the preparation of bills, accounts, and financial management documents
- Conducting legal research and keeping up to date with developments in mental capacity law
- Providing general administrative support to the Court of Protection team
About You
Essential:
- Experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, within Court of Protection
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to work with vulnerable clients with sensitivity and professionalism
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Court of Protection practice
- Experience working with professional deputies or private client matters
- Law degree or equivalent legal qualification (e.g., LPC/SQE)
