We are currently seeking a proactive and forward-thinking Paralegal to join our friendly and supportive Community Care team based in Reading. This role is primarily a support position rather than a fee-earning role, providing essential assistance to the Partner and the wider team. For the right candidate, there is genuine opportunity for progression into a more senior role, subject to performance and development.
The Role
This is a full-time position with flexible hybrid working, requiring 2–3 days per week in the Reading office (days are flexible). You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of files, administration, and team support, contributing to both individual and team success.
Key Responsibilities
- File management, case management, and general administration
- Diary management and document handling on behalf of fee earners
- Billing administration and management
- Instructing agents in line with team requirements
- Assisting with screening new potential clients
- Providing holiday cover for fee earners during absences
- Supporting the practice group in achieving team targets
- Working towards personal targets and firm benchmarks
- Maintaining excellent records and up-to-date files
- Managing competing priorities and deadlines independently
- Assisting with ad hoc fee-earning tasks (depending on experience)
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar paralegal or legal support role
- Ability to work unsupervised on administrative aspects of files
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Confident working both independently and as part of a team
- Strong Microsoft Office and keyboard skills
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
