Job: Probate Solicitor / Manager

Location: Bromley (2–3 days hybrid)

Salary: £60,000–£65,000 + Bonuses

Job Description

Join a forward-thinking legal team where your specialist probate knowledge can make a real difference. Our client is seeking a skilled Probate Solicitor or Manager to provide expert advisory support to their busy Credit Litigation team of around 20 professionals, based across Bromley and Chester.

The Role

You will act as the go-to probate specialist, offering technical guidance on estate administration to litigation solicitors working on behalf of local authorities and utility providers. Typical work will include:

  • Advising on the recovery of debts owed to local authorities, such as council tax, service charges, and adult social care fees, particularly where estates of deceased debtors are involved
  • Supporting litigation teams with complex probate and estate administration queries
  • Providing expertise on related matters such as service charge disputes, hire agreement disputes, and recovery of residential or home-care charges from deceased estates

This is an advisory, non-fee-earning position focused on adding value through your legal insight and practical solutions.

About You

You are a qualified solicitor or experienced probate professional who enjoys using your technical expertise to solve problems and support colleagues. Key skills and qualities include:

  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients and colleagues
  • Excellent case management and organisational ability; able to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Sound judgment and clear, concise communication—both written and verbal
  • Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems
