We are working with a prestigious international law firm to recruit an experienced Director of Finance to lead its European finance function. This is a senior and highly visible leadership role, offering responsibility for the financial operations of the firm's European offices. Working closely with senior European leadership, the Global CFO and Business Services Directors, you will play a key role in both the operational and strategic management of the business.

The Role

  • Lead and oversee the European finance function, including managing day-to-day finance operations and leading the regional finance team.
  • Oversee general ledger and balance sheet management, reconciliations and financial controls.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
  • Produce monthly management and financial reporting for senior leadership.
  • Manage treasury, cash flow and working capital.
  • Oversee revenue control, billing and collections.
  • Support pricing and matter planning decisions.
  • Act as COFA, with responsibility for client money procedures, controls and the annual SAR audit.
  • Oversee VAT compliance and support partnership and local tax reporting.
  • Work with external advisers and senior stakeholders.
  • Drive process improvements, automation and best practice across the finance function.
  • Lead the implementation and rollout of financial systems and applications.
  • Support senior management with strategic planning, projects and business initiatives.

About You

You will be an accomplished senior finance professional with significant leadership experience gained within a law firm. You will bring strong experience across financial management, planning, reporting, budgeting, treasury and operational finance, together with the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders and partners. Experience of Elite 3E is essential. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded and strategic finance leader to take ownership of a significant European finance function within a highly regarded international law firm.
