We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Court of Protection Paralegal to join our specialist team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in mental capacity law who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and reputable legal practice. You will work closely with fee-earners, clients, families, and professional deputies, assisting in matters relating to property and financial affairs, welfare applications, and ongoing deputyship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with Court of Protection applications, including deputyship, statutory wills, and trustee appointments
  • Drafting legal documents, witness statements, letters, and forms
  • Managing a caseload under supervision and maintaining accurate file records
  • Liaising with clients, vulnerable individuals, family members, care providers, and third parties
  • Supporting the preparation of bills, accounts, and financial management documents
  • Conducting legal research and keeping up to date with developments in mental capacity law
  • Providing general administrative support to the Court of Protection team

About You

Essential:

  • Experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, within Court of Protection
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work with vulnerable clients with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Court of Protection practice
  • Experience working with professional deputies or private client matters
  • Law degree or equivalent legal qualification (e.g., LPC/SQE)
