A well-established London law firm is looking to recruit a Contentious Probate Solicitor to join its highly regarded Private Client litigation team. The firm acts on a wide range of complex inheritance, estate and trust disputes, representing individuals, beneficiaries, executors and trustees across a broad spectrum of contentious probate matters.
The role
The firm is looking to recruit a Contentious Probate Solicitor with at least 3 years' PQE to join the team. The position would suit an experienced litigator looking to specialise further in this fascinating and often complex area of law while working on a high-quality and varied caseload.
You will be responsible for managing matters from initial instruction through to resolution, handling both contentious and related non-contentious probate issues. The work will include inheritance disputes, trust litigation, estate administration disputes and claims involving high-value estates.
Examples of matters you will tackle include:
- Inheritance Act (1975 Act) claims acting for both claimants and defendants
- Probate disputes involving allegations of lack of testamentary capacity, undue influence and forgery
- Trust disputes, including disputes regarding the validity and interpretation of trust documents
- Claims involving allegations of fraud
- Advising and acting for executors in a neutral capacity
- Proprietary estoppel and constructive trust claims
- Negotiation and drafting of settlement agreements
What we are looking for?
- A qualified Solicitor with at least 3 years' PQE and experience handling contentious probate matters
- Strong technical knowledge of inheritance, estate and trust disputes
- The ability to manage a varied caseload independently and efficiently
- Excellent client care, communication and relationship management skills
- A commercially minded approach with the ability to balance client objectives and risk
- An interest in business development, networking and helping to grow the department's profile
