Maintenance Technician uPVC Carpenter
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time 40 hours per week

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am 5:00pm
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Multi-Trader / uPVC Carpenter to join a busy Reactive Maintenance Team covering Waltham Forest, Redbridge and Havering. This is a mobile, customer-facing role involving a wide range of property repairs, with a particular focus on uPVC windows, glazing, doors, locks and associated carpentry works. You will begin your working day from home and travel directly to jobs assigned through a handheld PDA device. A company van, uniform and PPE will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out internal and external window repairs.
- Repairing uPVC windows and associated components.
- Working with both single and double glazing.
- Carrying out repairs to doors.
- Undertaking lock refits, replacements and repairs.
- Completing carpentry repairs associated with windows and doors.
- Carrying out a range of general multi-trade maintenance works.
- Diagnosing faults and identifying suitable repair solutions.
- Completing repairs to a high standard and aiming for a right-first-time service.
- Reducing unnecessary follow-on works and repeat visits.
- Completing work safely and in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements.
- Using a PDA / handheld device to receive and manage allocated jobs.
- Working independently while supporting the wider maintenance team when required.
- Maintaining a professional approach when working in residents' homes.
Customer Service
Customer satisfaction is an important part of this role. As a first point of contact for residents, you will be expected to communicate professionally, understand customer needs and deliver a high-quality service. You should take a right-first-time approach, with a focus on completing repairs efficiently while minimising follow-on appointments.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance, uPVC, carpentry or multi-trade role.
- Strong practical trade knowledge and experience.
- Experience within a maintenance, housing, construction or property environment.
- Experience repairing and maintaining uPVC windows.
- Experience with glazing, including single and double-glazed units.
- Experience carrying out door and lock repairs.
- Good carpentry skills.
- A broad range of multi-trade maintenance skills.
- A strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A right-first-time approach to repairs.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- The flexibility to work across multiple locations within the region.
