Join our Risk and Assurance Team at L&Q: This role will provide a great opportunity to help embed and strengthen risk management and assurance across a large organisation, enabling better decision making and helping us deliver reliable, repeatable and consistent services for our residents. You will help shape and mature our new group wide approach to risk and assurance. You’ll lead efforts to get buy‑in from across the business and make sure the approach is rolled out effectively. Drawing on your knowledge, including of the sector, along with internal and external data and best practice, you will help shape and continuously improve how L&Q manages risk, controls and assurance. You will report to the Head of Risk and Assurance and work with another Risk and Assurance Manager and a Risk Analyst. This small team sits within a larger Transformation and Change team who lead on the Group’s large Transformation portfolio – central to the delivery of our new 5 year corporate strategy.
Your impact in the role: You’ll support the maturing of the Groupwide approach to risk, controls and assurance. You’ll lead efforts to get buy‑in from across the business and make sure the approach is rolled out and followed effectively. You’ll ensure our reporting is data driven and clearly presented, communicating effectively through L&Q’s governance structures. You’ll help deliver a second line assurance programme, working with risk and control owners to review how well controls are working and advising on how to improve or simplify them. You’ll use your knowledge and insights to help set risk appetite at a strategic level and guide the business on how to apply it in day‑to‑day decision‑making. You’ll also lead on embedding and continuously improving our groupwide approach to critical incident and business continuity management.
Key relationships: You’ll be part of a small central team that supports the business in understanding its risks, how well current controls are working, and identifying ways to improve them. You’ll work closely with leaders and teams across the Group to help them understand the risks in their accountable areas, and develop practical, effective ways to manage them.
How will you help achieve departmental targets and goals: You’ll help us ensure we meet targets to increase compliance with our risk and assurance framework – consistent expression of risks, strong controls and assurance. You’ll help us reach the target that every area demonstrates routine self‑assessment of their control effectiveness and contribute to providing the second line of assurance, working closely with the third line, internal audit.
