Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time 40 hours per week

Salary: £41,207 per annum + £4,000 marketplace supplement following successful completion of a 3-month probation period

Vehicle: Company van provided for business use only

Grade: DM Tech 05

Reporting Office: Sidcup, South East London office attendance approximately twice per month

Working Location: London and surrounding areas, with travel across multiple locations

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:00am 5:00pm

Closing Date: 21 August 2026 at 11:00pm

Interview Dates: 1-3 September 2026 face-to-face interview and practical assessment

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced FRA Carpenter / Passive Fire Protection Carpenter to join a busy Fire Management Repairs team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled carpenter with experience in fire doors and passive fire protection to play an important role in maintaining safe homes and communal areas. You will carry out fire safety repairs and maintenance identified through internal and external Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. The role is mobile and field based, with your working day generally starting from your home address. You may be required to work across London and the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out fire door upgrade works.
  • Installing and maintaining fire door sets.
  • Undertaking repairs and remedial works relating to passive fire protection.
  • Carrying out fire-stopping works and associated finishing repairs.
  • Completing works identified through Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Ensuring all work complies with relevant fire safety standards and best practice.
  • Completing compliance documentation accurately and professionally.
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Providing excellent customer service when working in residents' homes and communal areas.
  • Working independently while also supporting wider teams where required.

Full training will be provided on the installation of certified fire door sets and relevant compliance procedures.

Essential Requirements

  • Have proven experience installing, maintaining and repairing fire doors.
  • Be a highly skilled carpenter with excellent attention to detail.
  • Have a good understanding of fire door compliance standards and best practices.
  • Be confident completing detailed compliance and maintenance documentation.
  • Have a working knowledge of building and maintenance trades.
  • Have knowledge of building construction and/or housing repairs and maintenance.
  • Be committed to ongoing fire management training and professional development.
  • Have a good understanding of job-related health and safety requirements.
  • Have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be able to assess customer needs and deliver high standards of customer/resident satisfaction.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team across multiple locations.
  • Have strong time-management and organisational skills.
  • Be able to complete work within specified timescales.
  • Have basic IT skills and be comfortable using technology as part of the role.
  • Hold a valid UK manual driving licence.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in passive fire protection.
  • Experience carrying out fire-stopping works.
  • Experience undertaking minor remedial works and repairs.
  • Knowledge of BM TRADA accreditation standards and requirements.
  • Experience completing fire door compliance documentation.

About the Working Environment

This is a mobile, field-based position. You will work across homes, estates, communal areas and other properties throughout London and surrounding areas. Your working day will generally begin from your home address, with occasional attendance at the designated office, expected to be approximately twice per month. You may also be required to travel between different locations as part of the role, with appropriate business expenses covered.
