An exciting opportunity for a motivated Fitness Instructor to join our Leisure team. The successful applicant will work in both gym and studio environments, helping everyday people achieve their health and fitness goals.
Responsibilities
- Be passionate about members’ needs.
- Conduct group exercise classes, inductions, programmes and assessments in line with operational fitness guidelines.
- Develop and facilitate ongoing programmes tailored to individual member goals and lifestyles.
- Variety in member gym experiences through motivation, personal programming, weight management, nutrition and alternative exercise suggestions.
- Build effective relationships through meaningful interaction and specialist coaching.
- Manage time on the gym floor to ensure interaction/programming, equipment upkeep, cleanliness and health and safety goals are met.
- Collaborate with Club Management on member retention initiatives and address reasons for terminations proactively.
- Attend Health and Fitness training, workshops, practical assessments and exams as required.
- Contribute to departmental and operational targets and operate within corporate fitness guidelines.
- Perform pool water quality tests, sanitation checks and lifeguard duties as required.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and hygiene, including proper uniform.
- Follow all company policies, procedures and Health and Safety requirements.
Key Skills
- NVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor or equivalent (Essential)
- NVQ Level 3 Personal Training or equivalent (Desirable)
- NPLQ or Pool Attendant (Desirable)
- Pool Plant Operators Certificate (Desirable)
- Lifeguard Certificate (Essential), training will be provided if not already held.

Required Criteria
- English GCSE grade 4/C or above.
- Mathematics GCSE grade 4/C or above.
- NVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor or equivalent (Essential).
- Current First Aid at Work Qualification Level 3.
- Up‑to‑date Health and Safety training.
- Experience of working in fitness and leisure.
- Experience delivering exercise classes, induction programmes and assessments.
Desired Criteria
- NVQ Level 3 Personal Training or equivalent.
- NPLQ or Pool Attendant.
- Pool Plant Operators Certificate.
- Willingness to undertake further training.
- Knowledge of the hotel industry.
