Join our Fire Safety Team at L&Q: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire Officer to join our dedicated Fire Safety Team within Property Services at L&Q. Reporting to the Senior Fire Officer, you’ll provide a specialist fire safety management and risk assessment service across L&Q’s residential portfolio. This is a truly rewarding role where your expertise will help keep residents safe and make a real, positive impact on the communities we support. Fire safety is a top priority at L&Q.
In this role, you’ll carry out professional, suitable and sufficient Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) in line with all relevant statutory requirements. These assessments will be completed as part of a planned programme, as well as in response to incidents, ensuring our homes remain safe, compliant and well‑managed.

Your impact in the role: The role is responsible for managing and delivering a programme of Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) across a diverse residential portfolio, ensuring assessments are suitable, sufficient, and aligned with current legislation and British Standards. You will undertake site inspections, produce high‑quality FRA reports, and clearly identify risk ratings, control measures, and remedial actions. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will help ensure that fire risks are effectively managed, residents are protected, and statutory compliance is maintained across the organisation.
What you'll bring:
- Candidates will need to have a valid driving licence and access to a car
- Already have obtained or be willing to work towards a Professional Fire Accreditation.
- Level 3/4 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Safety Management
- Knowledge and Experience working with Fire Safety legislation and regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Extensive experience of undertaking FRA’s in the residential sector
- Understanding of fire compliance within a housing association or local authority
- Knowledge of Approved Documents and Industry Guidance
- Ability to be able to work as part of a team both in the office and dispersed
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and be able to tailor communication for various internal and external stakeholders
- Use of MS packages, training would be given on the trust bespoke systems
