We are looking for a Credit Controller for a 12‐month fixed term contract based at our Bristol head office. This role focuses on collecting overdue balances, minimizing potential credit losses, supporting vulnerable customers, and resolving payment queries.
Key Purpose
Work with customers in financial difficulty to address missed payments, aim to bring their payments up to date, identify accounts where payment is unlikely and take appropriate action to minimise potential losses, and deliver high collection rates through proactive customer contact.
Responsibilities
- Optimise customer‐facing time to chase and collect overdue or missed payments via telephone, letter and email.
- Deal with and solve queries on invoices with both internal departments and external customers.
- Support vulnerable customers and ensure that all customers requiring additional assistance are aware of available options.
- Deliver a high level of customer service.
- Comply with relevant policies and procedures that will stand up to scrutiny from internal and external audit.
- Build relationships at all levels, communicate effectively, build trust and influence stakeholders.
- Work alongside outsource and supplier partners to manage overdue or missed payments, debt and vehicle recovery (as required).
- Maintain Continuous Personal Development (CPD) to stay up to date with relevant internal and external change.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience managing customers in financial difficulty, collections and/or credit control.
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, report writing and presenting.
- Excellent time‐management, planning and organisational skills.
- Self‐motivated, able to work under pressure within a process‐driven role focused on daily KPIs.
- Experience sharing expertise and evidence of sound judgement and commercial awareness.
- Strong background of delivering excellent customer service.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
Salary & Benefits
