We are working with a reputable UKAS accredited asbestos consultancy looking to add a Quality Manager to their team. This role focuses on overseeing and continually improving all technical and quality systems across surveying, training, and air monitoring. You will be responsible for driving high standards, strengthening compliance, and improving efficiency, while ensuring H&S, quality, and technical standards are consistently met across the business.
You will also ensure full compliance with key industry standards, including ISO/IEC 17020 (for inspection activities), ISO/IEC 17025 (for testing and air monitoring), UKAS RG8 and RG4, ILAC P15 and G19, and HSG264 and HSG248, embedding these into daily operations to maintain accreditation and best practice.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain all quality and technical systems, ensuring document control, compliance, and high standards across all activities.
- Provide clear guidance to staff, ensuring consistent understanding and application of quality procedures and best practice.
- Investigate technical issues, complaints, and non-conformances, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Plan and conduct internal audits, monitor outcomes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support and mentor surveyors, analysts, and trainees, maintaining training records, competency levels, and authorisations.
- Ensure compliance with UKAS and relevant standards, including audit preparation, liaison with regulatory bodies, and follow-up actions.
- Oversee all air monitoring activities to ensure they meet ISO/IEC 17025 and UKAS requirements, maintaining accurate processes and documentation.
- Deliver and support training in line with HSE and UKATA standards, including face-fit testing and development of course content.
- Line manage trainees through structured development, regular reviews, and coordination with operations to ensure varied experience and progression.
- Support business development, lead quality meetings, ensure actions are completed, maintain confidentiality, and work collaboratively across teams.
We’re looking for:
- Strong experience within the asbestos industry, particularly in quality, technical, or compliance focused roles.
- In depth knowledge of UKAS standards, including ISO/IEC 17020 and ISO/IEC 17025, along with HSG guidance.
- Experience conducting audits and managing quality systems.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams, with strong communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive and detail-focused approach, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
