Overview
We are seeking a Packaging Technologist to support key initiatives at Mars Snacking. The role involves commissioning and start‑up of new packaging production lines, supporting compliance with EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations, and contributing to the expansion of our Wrexham cereal plant, the largest in Europe.
Responsibilities
- Packaging development & compliance – Drive packaging development projects, provide factory support, and ensure all packaging meets food safety and quality standards.
- Plant trials – Plan, organise, and lead plant trials, testing, and support the commissioning of new packaging equipment.
- Data analysis – Analyse trial data, apply statistical methods, and ensure testing, OEE, and approval processes are followed.
- Reporting – Communicate findings, highlight risks, propose solutions, and keep project teams updated.
- Project management – Manage timelines, escalations, and maintain accurate product specifications.
- Project delivery – Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, with a smooth handover to plant teams.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in Packaging Development or a related role.
- Strong understanding of packing line equipment, machinery commissioning, line performance, and packaging standards.
- Knowledge of packaging components, materials, and manufacturing processes, including how these impact physical and barrier properties.
- Experience in organising and leading packaging trials to validate solutions.
- Ability to analyse data using statistical methods and make informed recommendations.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Understanding of the impact of PPWR on packaging components and structure.
