Responsibilities include functioning as a relatively autonomous Neuropsychologist in administering and scoring neuropsychological test batteries (including cognitive and personality test instruments) to SOF personnel. Perform assessments using interviews, formal psychological testing, and consultation as appropriate. Select established diagnostic evaluation procedures and gather case history for evaluation and diagnosis. Interpret validity and significance of data, prepare written notes integrating behavioral observations and test data, and make recommendations for further action. Maintain accurate and current notes in patient medical records and produce required evaluation/treatment reports. Oversee clinic Psychometrists and mental health technicians in day-to-day testing functions. Administer routine or standardized neuropsychological tests and use standardized procedures to score various tests. Record data in/on appropriate files or records and complete all encounter documentation within 72 hours. Observe and record patients’ behavior during testing and tabulate test results. Utilize computer software and pre-designed database to enter, retrieve, and update patient assessment data. Write neuropsychological reports considering neuropsychological data, neuro-imaging findings, laboratory data, medical history, psychiatric history, and presenting complaints. Monitor and coordinate the supply of neuropsychological testing materials. Provide basic training in test administration and interview techniques to trainees as appropriate. Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities, military commanders, and school districts as required. Provide psychological evaluations for military schools/programs and consult on patient compliance with accepted medical treatment. Assist and participate in special event informational seminars and conduct command-directed mental health evaluations IAW DoD Directive 6490.4. Conduct neuro-psychological evaluations for MEB, TDRL, PEB, and clinical consultations from various departments. Support assessment activities for military service member selection into Special Operations organizations. Assume additional administrative or clinical duties to ensure compliance with JC standards.
Qualifications: Meet the qualifications for the specialty of psychologist as outlined in para 1.3.2. Post-doctoral training in neuropsychology (clinical neuropsychology residency or fellowship of one year or more). Possess, or be eligible to apply for, the ABPP board certification in Clinical Neuropsychology.
Experience: Practiced as a neuropsychologist for at least two of the past five years. Preferred: At least two years of experience working as a Neuropsychologist or Neuropsychology Fellow in a DoD setting. Special knowledge of neuropsychology testing procedures, laboratory management, and research design.
Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands. Maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) as certified by the American Heart Association, with documentation provided to the COR and MTF Credentialing Department.
