SEN Teacher – Small Year 8 Class Watford | Full-Time | Long-Term / Permanent Opportunity £200 - £250 per day | Starting ASAP Loyal Blue Recruitment is working with a specialist SEN secondary school near the Watford area that is looking for an experienced Teacher to take responsibility for a small Year 8 class of just 3 pupils. This is a genuine long-term vacancy, not a short-term cover role. The school is looking for someone who can bring patience, consistency and a calm presence to a group of pupils who respond particularly well to adults they can build trust with. You'll have the opportunity to really get to know your pupils, understand what works for them and make a genuine difference to their learning and confidence. The role You'll be teaching a small Year 8 group across Maths, English and Science, supported by other members of the school team. The school takes a very individual approach to learning, so you'll have the freedom to bring your own ideas, strategies and resources rather than feeling tied to one particular way of teaching. Your responsibilities will include: * Planning and delivering engaging Maths, English and Science lessons * Teaching and supporting a small class of 3 Year 8 pupils * Supporting pupils with autism, SEMH and additional/complex needs * Adapting lessons around individual learning styles and needs * Using structured communication approaches where appropriate * Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils * Managing behaviour calmly and confidently, with a focus on de-escalation * Working closely with Teaching Assistants and other support staff * Taking part in trips, outdoor learning and practical activities * Helping pupils develop their confidence, communication and independence Who are we looking for? We're particularly interested in speaking with experienced Teachers who have worked within SEN, SEMH, alternative provision or complex-needs settings. Teachers from a Primary or Key Stage 2 background who would be comfortable teaching a small secondary-age group are also very welcome to apply. Ideally, you'll be: * Experienced in working with pupils with autism, ADHS, SEMH or additional needs * Patient, resilient and able to build trust with young people * Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and positive way * Comfortable adapting your teaching to individual pupils * Happy getting involved with trips and outdoor/practical learning * Someone who enjoys working as part of a close-knit school team QTS is welcomed but isn't essential for the right person. The school is much more interested in finding someone with the right experience, approach and personality. This role would suit an experienced Teacher rather than someone at the very beginning of their teaching career. Why this school? The school has made significant changes over recent years, with a strong focus on relationships, behaviour, communication and creating a calmer environment for pupils. Around 80% of pupils are autistic, ADHD with some also having complex health and additional needs. There's a real emphasis on helping pupils find their voice, develop independence and experience learning beyond the classroom through trips, outdoor activities and practical learning. For the right Teacher, there is plenty of opportunity to make the class your own and have a genuine impact. Working with Loyal Blue Recruitment We're an independent education recruitment agency with over 12 years' experience supporting teachers, support staff and schools. We won't send your CV everywhere. We'll take the time to understand what you're looking for, talk you through the school and role properly, and support you throughout the process. You'll receive: * Weekly pay * Dedicated support from your consultant * Full compliance support * Interview preparation * Long-term and permanent opportunities * Straightforward, honest communication Interested? If this sounds like the sort of role you're looking for, apply today with your latest CV and we'll give suitable applicants a call to talk through the school, pupils and opportunity in more detail. Don't tick every box? We'd still be happy to hear from you. If you have strong classroom experience and feel you'd work well within a specialist SEN environment, please apply
