Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Arboricultural Consultancy team at Lowther Forestry Group Ltd. We seek applications from enthusiastic, driven individuals who take pride in their work. You will be joining a small, dedicated team who provide an already excellent arboriculture service including tree condition surveys and detailed tree inspections to clients around the UK. This is an opportunity to build a career within a progressive organisation. A company vehicle will be provided for business use together with a laptop, PPE and relevant data recording technology.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting and undertaking thorough visual tree inspections and collecting accurate field data.
- Providing prioritised actions based on tree risk ratings, together with fact‑based diagnosis and prognosis of noted features and defects.
- Recommend clear and practical remedial measures to reduce the risk of harm and to benefit the long‑term health and condition of the client’s tree stock.
- Produce professional reports with accompanying maps and drawings.
- Quality checking of collected tree data and professional reports.
- Assisting with, and undertaking, BS5837 tree surveys and report writing.
- Supervision of contractors and regular liaison with clients.
- Provide arboricultural advice to colleagues within the Lowther Group.
- Assist with the use and support of specialist software.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Level 5 qualification in arboriculture, urban forestry, plant science or similar.
- Willingness to travel UK wide with occasional overnight stays.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office programmes.
- Willingness to become proficient in specialist arboriculture software.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality of work.
- Well organised and confident in prioritising time and resources.
- Willingness to achieve the Professional Tree Inspection qualification within 1 year.
- Willingness to work outdoors in typical weather and walk long distances around uneven and densely vegetated areas.
- Self‑motivated towards continual learning and awareness of current industry knowledge.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Passionate about the science and practice of establishing and maintaining trees.
- Experience in writing professional reports.
- Experience with CAD software.
- Logical and critical thinking skills.
- Good tree ID skills.
- Keen interest in fungi associated with trees.
- At ease in both office and outdoor environments.
