Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned, results-driven Head of Project Management to oversee a diverse portfolio of projects spanning customer solution installations which involve manufacturing operations, engineering improvements, and capital investments. This role will be pivotal in aligning project execution with business strategy, improving throughput, and maximising return on investment. The role will be working with companies with large estates of building services, HVAC assets, to provide a new centralised control centre, to inform improved energy management, work management and performance management. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on aligning people, processes, and technology with business goals, ensuring everything runs like clockwork at both the project, programme and portfolio level.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, plan, and oversee end-to-end delivery of multiple interrelated projects.
- Manage the intake, evaluation, and prioritisation of projects across engineering, maintenance, and production functions.
- Establish and maintain the project portfolio roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic, safety, and operational objectives.
- Lead cross-functional governance forums and communicate progress, risks, and resource needs to senior leadership.
- Manage resource planning across projects and resolve cross-project dependencies.
- Monitor risks, budgets, timelines, and KPIs to keep initiatives on track.
- Mentor Project Managers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Define and manage portfolio & project management processes and procedures.
- Accountable for driving and supporting strong compliance to industry best practice in project delivery and portfolio management.
- Monitor performance metrics such as cost savings, production efficiency, and capacity utilization.
- Drive portfolio-level reporting and risk mitigation strategies for both CapEx and OpEx initiatives.
- Coordinate with internal departments such as Sales, Development, Infrastructure, and Customer Support/Success along with additional stakeholders to optimise project sequencing and resource allocation.
- Champion continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, TPM) in project delivery.
Qualifications Required Experience & Skills
- Considerable experience in portfolio, program, or project management within similar sectors.
- Proven track record of managing technical and operational initiatives, including CapEx portfolios.
- Experience working with PMO processes and tools (e.g., MS Project, Planview, ERP systems).
- Strong track record of developing a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement through effective change and risk management.
- Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills from sales to boardroom.
- Deep understanding of programme governance, delivery frameworks, and portfolio management.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets at scale.
- Oversee capital expenditure planning and approvals in collaboration with the CFO and COO.
- Proficiency with delivery and reporting tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, or DevOps.
- Drive a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement through effective change and risk management.
Desirable Experience & Skills
- Facilities Management, Building Services or HVAC background.
- Knowledge of IT Asset Management (HAM and/or SAM implementations).
- Retail Experiences within the food industry.
- MoP, PfMP, PMP, or engineering-related certifications (e.g., CEng, Lean Six Sigma) are advantageous.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, industrial automation, and asset lifecycle management.
- Start Up or VC Company Background.
