The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Approved Electrician to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled electrician with a strong commercial background who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience as an Approved Electrician and will be confident leading installations, carrying out inspection and testing, fault finding, and ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards. Experience working across commercial environments such as offices, retail, education, healthcare, hospitality, and industrial facilities is highly desirable.

As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to work independently, mentor junior electricians where appropriate, and represent the company professionally on client sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, commissioning, fault finding, and repairs across predominantly commercial properties.
  • Lead and deliver electrical projects to a high standard, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to deliver installations in line with project requirements.
  • Install and maintain lighting, power distribution, containment systems, distribution boards, control equipment, emergency lighting, and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Undertake periodic inspection, testing, and certification in accordance with current regulations.
  • Diagnose and rectify complex electrical faults with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure all work complies with the latest BS 7671 Wiring Regulations, Health & Safety legislation, and company quality standards.
  • Complete all certification, test documentation, and job records accurately and efficiently.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, site managers, and colleagues to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support and mentor apprentices and junior electricians, promoting high standards of workmanship and safe working practices.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in excellent condition.
  • Participate in planned overtime and emergency call-out work where required.

Skills & Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' post-qualification experience as an Approved Electrician.
  • Extensive experience delivering electrical installations within commercial environments.
  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing (or equivalent).
  • ECS Gold Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems and distribution.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach.
  • Able to work independently while managing workload effectively.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • AM2 Assessment.
  • Experience supervising electricians or small installation teams.
  • EV Charging installation qualifications and experience.
  • Solar PV installation experience.
  • Fire alarm installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Emergency lighting testing and commissioning.
  • IPAF and/or PASMA certification.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Experience working on live commercial sites with strict health and safety procedures.

Working Conditions

This role primarily involves working across commercial sites, with occasional industrial and high-end domestic projects where required. The position includes travel to customer sites, occasional overtime, and participation in an on-call rota. Flexibility and a proactive approach are essential.
