As a Contract Manager at the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC), you will be actively managing the contracts that enable investment in low-carbon energy. As we enter a period of exciting growth, the role will evolve. It is currently quite operational, and will expand to offer opportunities in project management and advisory work.

New & Bespoke Schemes

Join a team at the forefront of the UK’s Net Zero transition. This role supports the UK Government by shaping the design and implementation of new low-carbon business models and contractual frameworks. You’ll help translate policy ambition into clear, commercially workable contracts, working across technologies such as carbon removals, bioenergy, hydrogen, and sustainable fuels. The role involves engaging directly with government, industry, and legal advisors to solve complex commercial and operational challenges, ensuring that the UK’s investment-grade contracts are robust, transparent, and capable of delivering long-term decarbonisation at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Relationship management: Doing whatever it takes to help counterparties succeed. The role isn’t about policing or simply checking contracts, but about creating positive relationships that help counterparties meet contractual requirements.
  • Building trust; identifying, understanding and resolving issues in a timely way; understanding counterparties’ challenges and positions; having conversations that make a positive impact.
  • Communicating clearly and confidently. Developing, articulating, and standing by LCCC positions.
  • Quickly building and developing excellent working relationships with LCCC colleagues.
  • Advocating for our counterparties, using our unique position as a government owned, arm’s-length body.
  • Analysing, testing and progressing information from government and counterparties.
  • Collaborating with and supporting stakeholders to meet all contractual requirements.
  • Presenting high-quality, reliable data using the appropriate templates.
  • Using our expertise as the only people in the UK managing these types of contracts to influence stakeholders.
  • Understanding how the projects in your team influence the wider portfolio of projects.
  • Gathering in-depth, trustworthy information about trends, and the impact that changes in policy, process and procedure can have on different stakeholders.
  • Doing whatever you can to help get Projects and Contracts over the line.
  • Understanding the Contracts for Difference mechanism, processes and systems, and raising any potential issues in advance.
  • Managing and communicating information in a timely and accurate way, prioritising multiple Projects and raising potential issues before they become problematic.
  • Pro-actively sharing ideas for improvements to processes and procedures.
