Role Summary:
The IT Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is a senior technical position responsible for designing, maintaining, and managing LCCC\’s AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure. As the final escalation point for technical issues, you\’ll ensure secure, reliable operations while partnering with the Infrastructure Manager on strategic planning and roadmaps.
Key aspects include acting as primary contact for third-party suppliers, collaborating with the Cyber Security team to review major changes, and maintaining security, compliance, and governance standards. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic planning to ensure LCCC\’s infrastructure remains robust and future-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments.
- Deploy and manage Cisco security solutions (Secure Endpoint, Multi-Cloud Defence) for comprehensive threat protection.
- Monitor cloud security posture using the Wiz platform for vulnerability management and compliance reporting.
Data Platform Management
- Support data platform environments, including SQL databases, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Spark clusters, and MongoDB Atlas
- Ensure secure cloud configurations across all data platforms
- Collaborate with development and data teams on infrastructure requirements
DevOps & Project Delivery
- Build automated CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and data platform deployments with security scanning.
- Deliver projects using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices
- Support the rollout of new cloud applications and evaluate emerging technologies
Security & Governance
- Collaborate with the IT Cyber Security team to approve significant system changes.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation work on cloud infrastructure and endpoints.
- Establish and maintain governance policies, security standards, and compliance requirements across all platforms.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Minimum 2-3 years hands-on production experience with:
Infrastructure as Code & DevOps
- Terraform experience writing and deploying infrastructure modules and configurations
- CI/CD pipeline implementation using Azure DevOps and GitLab
- Git-based workflows and infrastructure state management
- Azure integration for automated infrastructure provisioning
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Strong Azure or AWS platform knowledge
- Server setup, maintenance, and networking protocols
- Cloud security configurations and monitoring
- Project management methodologies
Microsoft Ecosystem
- Office 365/Azure application stack and server operating systems
- Azure services integration and identity management solutions
Data & Analytics
- SQL database expertise, including query optimisation
- Data pipeline design and implementation across multiple platforms
- Data governance, security, and compliance practices
- Advanced Data Platforms: Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Apache Spark, MongoDB Atlas
- Operations: Cloud cost optimisation, disaster recovery planning, advanced automation and scripting
