The Role

We're hiring a qualified solicitor to take ownership of our legal recoveries and collections activity. This is a hands‑on role with real impact, you'll manage live cases, own recovery strategy, and help develop the legal frameworks that underpin our collections work. You'll act as the primary legal point of contact for recovery matters, working closely with a small in‑house collections team to deliver effective and compliant outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Take full ownership of Lovey’s legal recoveries function end‑to‑end
  • Personally manage complex and escalated cases from pre‑legal stage through to enforcement
  • Lead all litigation activity, including issuing claims, obtaining CCJs, statutory demands, and progressing insolvency actions where appropriate
  • Make final decisions on recovery strategy across the book, including settlements, enforcement routes, and write‑offs
  • Design and implement clear legal escalation frameworks, defining exactly when and how cases move from collections into legal action
  • Build and continuously refine playbooks, templates, and standardised legal processes to drive consistency and scale
  • Act as the central decision‑maker for all legal aspects of recoveries, supporting and directing the collections team on approach, positioning, and next steps
  • Improve overall recovery performance by introducing faster, more effective routes to enforcement and resolution
  • Manage recovery actions involving personal guarantees, including assessing enforceability and pursuing guarantors where appropriate
  • Own and control legal spend across recoveries
  • Ensure all recoveries activity is compliant with UK legal and regulatory requirements, while maintaining a pragmatic, commercial approach

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified solicitor in England, Scotland and Wales
  • Minimum 5 years PQE
  • Strong background in debt recovery, litigation, or insolvency
  • Experience in a law firm recoveries team or in‑house within a lender/fintech is highly desirable
  • Commercial mindset, able to balance legal risk with business outcomes
  • Comfortable operating independently and owning a function end‑to‑end
  • Hands‑on and pragmatic, not afraid to roll up your sleeves
