Positioned at the Gateway to Mid-Wales, the Rhallt provides exceptional person-centred care for General Nursing and Dementia Nursing to the population of Powys, Shropshire and Gwynedd.

With easily accessible road links and a conveniently located Rail station nearby, the Rhallt is nestled in the most beautiful location adjacent to Offa’s Dyke Path, straddling the Montgomery Canal and the magnificent hills of the surrounding countryside.

We are seeking to appoint a kind, organised and experienced

Maintenance Assistant to join our team.

To ensure that the buildings, equipment and fixtures are maintained in good, safe working order, compliant with safety regulations and records updates.

Responsible for the maintenance of the accommodation that it is in a constant clean and attractive condition.

We have a 3 0 hours contract available with an hourly rate of £13.00! Shift times are 0800-1630, across Monday to Friday. Flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the business.

Role Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular inspections throughout the Home, monitor and action plan any
  • maintenance issues found.
  • Report defects requiring specialist attention in a timely manner.
  • Carry out domestic painting, decorating and wallpapering to a schedule defined by the Home Manager, and ensure bedrooms are of good standard for new admissions.
  • Carry out minor joinery work and minor plumbing.
  • Undertake regular inspections/room checks to identify any defects that need rectifying and enter into the maintenance log book to create a schedule for completion.
  • To undertake and prioritize other tasks as required by the Management team.
  • Ensure all compliance documents are up to date.
  • Carry out Health and Safety and Fire Safety drills and training as required.
  • Complete Legionella testing in liaison with consultants.
  • Take responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of adults that the post holder is responsible for or comes into contact with.

Skills and experience required

  • Experience in basic plumbing, electrical, joinery or gardening work is essential.
  • Specialist skills in a building trade is preferable.
  • Ability to use basic tools and operate equipment.
  • Must have a full clean driving license.
  • Must be reliable and be able to communicate with residents and other members of staff.
  • Care home background is preferable.
