Positioned at the Gateway to Mid-Wales, the Rhallt provides exceptional person-centred care for General Nursing and Dementia Nursing to the population of Powys, Shropshire and Gwynedd.

With easily accessible road links and a conveniently located Rail station nearby, the Rhallt is nestled in the most beautiful location adjacent to Offa’s Dyke Path, straddling the Montgomery Canal and the magnificent hills of the surrounding countryside.

We’re looking for a motivated, skilled Head Chef who wants more than just a job — someone who values balance, leads with passion, and takes pride in building a strong, supportive team.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of delivering a high-quality dining experience that supports residents’ wellbeing, respects individual needs, and brings comfort and enjoyment to everyday life.

This role includes preparing fresh, nutritious meals for up to 91 Residents, as well as supporting the catering for the home’s events and celebrations.

  • It’s a 40‑hour contract at £ 34,320 per annum Shift times are
  • 0730–1730 with alternate weekends,

Our interview process is completed in one visit: a short, friendly interview followed by a practical cook‑off, giving you the perfect chance to showcase your creativity, skill, and passion for great food.

Role Responsibilities

  • Ensure that menus are presented and displayed in a way that residents can understand them and make daily choice on what they wish to ear during the day.
  • Ensure that meals are provided in sufficient quantities, taking into accountthe diets to meet medical, ethnicand personal needs and preferences.
  • Ensure all food is nutritionally balanced, attractively presented for servicein a timely mannerand in the correct sequence.
  • Understand, followand adhere to company HACCP, ensuring full compliance.
  • Ensure that the kitchen and serving areas are clean and hygienic andmaintaina high standard of infection control and adhere to the Food Standards Act1999, andensuring cleaning rotas are adhered to and records kept.
  • Manage, allocatedutiesand supervise the kitchen team ensuring a quality delivery of services.
  • Inspire and motivate the team produce food to the expectedhigh standards.
  • Take part in recruitment of the kitchen staff with the Home Manager.

Skills and experience required

  • To be able to work independently and organise other members of the kitchen team is essential.
  • Experience of working during busy meal periods including breakfast and evening meal service is essential.
  • Experience of working in a care home or similar is essential.
  • Knowledge of specialised diets and service delivery is essential.
  • Ability to contribute and develop thefour weekmenu is essential.
  • Ability to complete recordsdemonstratingadherence to legal requirements is essential.
