We are working with a Further Education provider in Cambridge who requires an experienced BSL Communication Support Worker to work with their students, supporting d/Deaf and HI students. You’ll report to the Head of Learning Support and be key to ensuring the best possible outcomes for students.
On a day-to-day basis you’ll:
- Work in class with d/Deaf learners supporting their communication and access to learning
- Work closely with teaching staff, advising on the best way to communicate and provide material and teaching delivery for the students you support
- Provide support for activities outside the classroom e.g. residential trips
- Provide appropriate support throughout the examination process
- Transcribe videos and help prepare learning materials, if needed
- Assist and promote continuous professional development, equality and social inclusion.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language, have worked in an educational setting previously, and be willing to travel with students off-site. Please note that for this position you will be required on-site full-time (term time only), hybrid working is not available.
This is a full-time role (37 hours per week) but you will only work term times (school holidays off!). It offers a salary of £21 – 23,500 per annum, dependent on skills and experience. Benefits include a generous pension plan, free gym membership, and free onsite parking.
