The Group Clinical Specialist is responsible for providing expert clinical leadership and guidance across all Loveday homes. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, person-centred care while ensuring regulatory compliance, robust clinical governance, effective risk management, staff development, and continuous improvement of members’ experience. The Group Clinical Specialist will promote a culture of clinical excellence, ensuring consistently high standards of care are delivered across all Loveday homes.

Key Responsibilities

Quality and Governance

  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all Loveday homes through the completion of regular quality and clinical audits.
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical team to develop, implement, and monitor action plans, ensuring timely completion and sustained improvement.
  • Analyse clinical trends and patterns to identify risks and implement effective risk management strategies.
  • Ensure appropriate clinical equipment is in place and that comprehensive risk assessments are developed and maintained to protect members’ safety.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement by reviewing complaints, incidents, and safeguarding concerns, implementing learning and preventative actions.

Leadership and Development

  • Provide strong clinical leadership to develop and support clinical teams, including Deputy Clinical Managers, Clinical Leads, Nurses, and Care Coordinators.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach clinical staff to enhance skills, confidence, and professional development.
  • Organise and deliver clinical training and education programmes in line with identified needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in and contribute to Clinical Risk Meetings, sharing learning and best practice.

Clinical Oversight

  • Oversee the quality of care delivered across all Loveday homes, ensuring high standards of clinical practice at all times.
  • Provide expert advice and support on complex clinical cases and risk management issues.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and ensure evidence-based practice is consistently applied.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including GPs, community health professionals, consultants, and other clinical specialists.
  • Ensure a robust and safe admission process is in place across all Loveday homes.
  • Ensure members’ safety, dignity, and wellbeing in all decision-making.

Person Specification

  • Registered General Nurse with an active PIN number.
  • Relevant clinical leadership/management experience.
  • Training and coaching experience/qualifications.
  • Strong experience in clinical governance, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience conducting clinical audits and developing, implementing and monitoring action plans.
  • Demonstrable experience in risk management, incident investigation and safeguarding.
  • Experience supporting services through CQC inspections and quality improvement programmes.

Knowledge and Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of CQC regulations, quality standards and best practice within the sector.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and coaching skills.
  • Strong clinical knowledge with the ability to assess, manage and advise on complex clinical needs.
  • Ability to analyse clinical data, trends and outcomes to drive improvement.

Other requirements

  • Willingness to travel regularly across the Loveday homes.
  • Flexibility to support the clinical team when needed, occasionally out of hours.

In line with the requirements of the Asylum & Immigration Act 1996, all applicants must either be eligible to live and work in the UK or must obtain permits to work in the UK prior to application. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process.
