We are seeking a highly organised and knowledgeable Governance Officer to support effective governance across one of our clients, a Multi-Academy Trust. This role provides professional advice to the Central Federation Board (CFB) and Local Governing Bodies (LGBs), ensures compliance with DfE requirements, and delivers high-quality clerking and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on governance legislation, policy, and best practice.
- Support Trust decision-making and compliance with DfE guidance.
- Prepare agendas, distribute papers, monitor quorum, and produce accurate minutes.
- Maintain governance records, statutory information, and compliance checks (e.g., GIAS, website requirements).
- Manage governor appointments, elections, succession planning, and training logs.
- Build effective relationships with Chairs, governors, Principals, and central team colleagues.
- Clerk CFB, committee, LGB, and statutory panel meetings (including some evenings).
The ideal Governance Officer
- Strong understanding of school or academy governance (Multi-academy trust preferred).
- Excellent communication, organisation, and attention to detail.
- Able to interpret policy and legislation and provide clear, concise advice.
- Professional, discreet, and confident working with senior leaders.
