Position: PT Graduate Researcher

Salary: circa £25k (36 hours/week) – pro rata to hours worked

Company and Job Overview

Max Associates is a small, dynamic consultancy working in the local authority sports, physical activity, and cultural sectors. Our clients are mainly local authorities and non-profits managing sports and leisure centres. We collaborate with sector organizations including Sport England, national governing bodies, and community groups.

We are recruiting recent graduates to focus on research within our projects.

Key Projects Include:

• Sports, physical activity, and wellbeing strategies
• Feasibilities and appraisals for new/refurbished facilities
• Management options assessments
• Supporting councils in procuring operators for leisure centres
• Service, business, and pricing reviews

The Role:

Support our consultants and directors in primary desk-based research. This is a home-based role.

Research tasks include:

• Reviewing council strategy documents
• Analyzing demographic and health profiles of catchment areas
• Using Sport England tools to assess activity trends
• Conducting competition analysis via search engines
• Undertaking facility audits
• Report writing and presentation development
• Additional research as needed

Hours:

Negotiable between 2-3 days per week

Person Specification:

Experience:

• Project work, data analysis, and report writing experience
• Survey management and primary engagement experience
• Teamwork and deadline management

Knowledge & Understanding:

• Understanding of government and public policy issues
• Knowledge of public leisure and cultural sectors
• Research and engagement methods

Qualifications:

Degree level education
