Are you a commercially-minded finance professional looking for the autonomy to shape a department from the ground up? My client is a fast-growing operator in the UK's thriving padel and multi-sport sector. Since launching, they have quickly expanded to 10 venues and are scaling rapidly with 5+ new sites planned annually. Having previously outsourced their finance function, they are now bringing it in-house, offering the unique opportunity to be the first finance hire and lead the department's evolution.
The Role
Based in Clapham Junction, you will be the financial engine of the business. You will manage everything from daily bookkeeping and Xero management to high-level financial planning, helping us optimise profitability across court bookings, coaching, retail, and memberships. As they continue to scale, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating new site feasibility and, eventually, hiring a bookkeeper to support your growing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Management Reporting: Produce monthly P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis for each venue, providing commentary on performance and yield.
- Daily Finance Operations: Manage the full bookkeeping cycle in Xero, including bank reconciliations, Hubdoc processing, and accounts payable/receivable.
- Financial Planning: Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning to support our aggressive growth strategy.
- Compliance: Manage monthly payroll, VAT returns, and ensure alignment with UK GAAP.
- Operational Support: Work with the leadership team to analyse court utilisation, staffing models, and CapEx for facility upgrades.
Who You Are
- Qualified or Part-Qualified: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred.
- Technically Proficient: Strong experience in management accounts, Xero, and advanced Excel.
- Commercially Minded: You don’t just report numbers; you look for the story behind them to drive growth.
- Proactive & Independent: You are comfortable taking full ownership in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
- Sports Enthusiast: An interest in padel or the wider sports industry is a significant plus.
What’s in it for you?
This is a "blank canvas" role. You will move from being a reporter of data to a key strategic partner in a high-growth business. We offer a fast-paced environment where your work directly impacts the expansion of one of the UK's most exciting sports brands.
