The Opportunity: We’re partnering exclusively with ukactive to appoint a Member Experience & Sales Manager. You’ll take full ownership of c.50 accounts in your patch, splitting your time roughly 60% new business / 40% retention. This is a consultative sell, not a heavy one — ukactive is a membership body, not a vendor, so conversations start warmer. But you’ll still need a hunter mentality, commercial discipline, and the curiosity to build sector knowledge that earns you a seat at the table. Internally, you’ll work hand-in-hand with the Marketing, Events, Research and Partnerships teams to make sure the voice of the member is heard.
What You’ll Own:
- Member Growth & New Business: Identify, develop and close new member opportunities across your patch — with the c.3,000 independent operators in market the biggest growth area. Hit individual and shared revenue targets across membership, upsell and cross-sell.
- Account Management & Retention: Act as the primary contact for c.50 members in your region, owning relationships, renewals and growth conversations end-to-end. Deliver value-led, consultative account management that protects retention across the book.
- Sector Engagement & Events: Lead regional networking events, and represent ukactive at the major industry moments — PerformX, Elevate, FIBO — plus Strategic Partner Group events. Run the retention drumbeat: award entries, networks, webinars, newsletter touchpoints.
- Insight & Internal Collaboration: Maintain an accurate pipeline and forecast in Salesforce, and use member data to inform sales-led decisions. Feed member insight into Research, Digital, EDI and Wellbeing workstreams — and signpost members to the right specialist inside ukactive when needed.
About You: We’re keen to speak with candidates who demonstrate:
- 3+ years’ sales, business development or commercial experience, with a proven track record of hitting revenue targets.
- Strong account management credentials — the ability to grow and retain commercial relationships, not just open them.
- Consultative and customer-first, with the substance to add genuine value in the conversation.
- Resilient with a hunter mentality — but warm, curious and never heavy-handed.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the credibility to represent ukactive externally.
- Detail-oriented and accountable, comfortable working with targets, forecasts and CRM data (Salesforce desirable).
- A genuine passion for health, fitness and wellbeing, and a working knowledge of the UK physical activity sector.
Salary & OTE: £40,000 basic + up to £12,000 variable OTE (total potential £52,000), paid quarterly against annual targets, with a Q4 accelerator for over-performers. The OTE splits across New Business (40%), Retention (40%) and Engagement (20%).
Why Join ukactive: Join the trade body shaping the future of the UK’s physical activity sector — work that genuinely matters. A newly defined role with the autonomy to own a patch end-to-end and visibility close to the leadership team. Fully remote, with the choice to use the central London office for events and team days, and front-row access to PerformX, Elevate and FIBO. A consultative, value-led environment — you’ll be backed to do sales properly, not pushed to sell hard. Strong benefits: 5% matched pension, free gym membership, Private Health Care, 25 days holiday plus birthday and bank holidays.
