Love Joes is a family-run food business based in Walsall, West Midlands. We make and supply chicken products to foodservice customers across the UK — over 3,000 tonnes a year and growing. We’re about 190 people strong, and we’re proud of the fact that over a quarter of our team have been with us for 10 years or more. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people feel part of something here — not just a number on a rota.
What we stand for: Everything we do comes back to four values. They’re not posters on a wall — they’re how we recognise people, how we make decisions, and how we hold ourselves accountable.
- Do What You Love—Bring energy and pride to your work. If you care about what you do, it shows.
- Exceptional Service—Go the extra step. Whether it’s for a customer or a colleague, do it properly.
- Continuous Improvement—Never stop learning. If something can be better, make it better.
- Look After Each Other—We’re a team. We look out for each other, on the floor and off it.
The role: This role is responsible for implementing sales and marketing strategies to regional-based customers, while achieving sales targets and driving growth across the territory. The Business Development Manager sits within a clear EOS accountability structure, reporting to the Sales Manager, who reports to the Head of Sales and Marketing, and ultimately to the Managing Director. You’ll be out in the field regularly, building strong customer relationships, identifying opportunities, and supporting wider account development activity across the region.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing regional customer relationships and owning day-to-day interactions within your territory
- Achieving regional sales targets including revenue and activity goals
- Carrying out regular field visits and customer reviews
- Supporting National Account Managers on larger or national accounts within your region
- Identifying and reporting local market opportunities and growth potential
- Providing feedback on market intelligence, competitor activity and customer needs
- Representing Love Joes professionally with all customers and stakeholders
What we’re looking for: We’re not expecting perfection — we’re looking for the right person. If you’ve got most of the below, we want to hear from you.
- Substantial experience in the sales industry
- Experience in upselling products and customer service
- Strong understanding of product and customer needs
- Understanding of sales metrics and performance measures
- Highly developed presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Ability to convert leads into customers
- Good attention to detail
- Basic IT skills
It’d be a bonus if you’ve got:
- Experience in foodservice or FMCG sales
- Understanding of industry trends and regional market dynamics
- Experience working with national accounts or field sales teams
What you’ll get:
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays
- Staff discount at the Love Joes Factory Shop
- Access to Reward Gateway — discounts, wellbeing tools, and more
- Employee of the Month recognition programme
- Company events such as our Summer BBQ and Big Night Out
- A team that actually looks out for each other — ask anyone who works here
