Contract Type: Self-Employed / Management Contract
Hours: Approx. 40 hours per week (including minimum 25 hours coaching)
Contract Length: Initial 12 months (renewable annually)
Monthly Fee: £3,167 + performance bonuses
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Gym Manager to take full operational responsibility for an established gym in Walton on Thames. This is a hands-on leadership role combining gym management, coaching, staff supervision, member engagement, and business growth. You will manage the gym as if it were your own, driving exceptional member experience, strong community culture, and sustainable membership growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Gym Operations
- Oversee day-to-day gym operations to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient functioning
- Deliver a minimum of 25 hours per week of coaching
- Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained
- Staff Leadership
- Recruit, train (where required), and manage coaching, admin, and support staff
- Supervise subcontracted coaches and maintain performance standards
- Member Experience & Retention
- Deliver exceptional customer service
- Handle member enquiries, consultations, onboarding, and complaints
- Build and manage a strong community engagement programme, including social and fitness events
- Membership Growth
- Manage all new member leads from enquiry through to onboarding
- Implement retention and acquisition strategies aligned with annual targets
- Marketing & Brand Growth
- Plan and deliver marketing initiatives to attract and retain members
- Manage and grow the gym’s social media presence
- Promote classes, programmes, and events
- Programming
- Develop and manage fitness programmes, classes, and special events
- Continuously enhance the member experience
- Compliance & Data Protection
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Handle customer data in accordance with UK GDPR requirements
