As the Head of Finance, you will manage all financial needs of the UK company and will report directly to the CEO. The role is based in the London office.
Role purpose
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Head of Finance to join our team. This person will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in accounting and financial management within the Food & Beverage industry, and possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Accounting Function: Oversee all aspects of the company's financial accounting, reporting, analysis functions & managing Finance team.
- Month End Close: Responsible for timely, accurate and efficient accounting close on a monthly basis; monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts & overseeing invoice financing reconciliation.
- Monthly Reporting: Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual comprehensive financial reports for senior management and investors.
- Manage Budget: Coordinate and lead the annual & quarterly budgeting and forecasting process. Work with internal teams setting and monitoring department budgets.
- Manage Cash-Flow: Lead cash flow management strategies to support operational requirements and strategic investments.
- Inventory Controls: Work closely with operations managing procedures on inventory & production forecasting and valuation.
- Internal Controls: Maintain and enhance internal control policies, processes and procedures; maintain integrity/reliability of accounting system.
- Revenue Management & Profitability: Spearhead trade promotional spend management analysis and strategies to ensure optimal return on investment (ROI). Drive initiatives to optimize product pricing models and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) to maximize gross margins and overall product profitability.
- Strategic Planning: Provide critical financial expertise to support major strategic initiatives, including new product launches, capital expenditure decisions, and long-range corporate planning.
- KPI Reporting: Oversee a daily, weekly, monthly cadence of KPI's and goal tracking across all business operations - Sales, marketing and Operations. Analyse financial data and provide strategic insights to support decision-making and business growth.
- Leadership: Continuous collaboration with the Founders to set & drive the organisational vision and business strategy.
- Business Efficiencies: Collaborate Cross-Functionally with Operations & Sales to drive operational efficiencies and optimise financial performance.
Key Skills and Attributes
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with experience in finance operations.
- Proven track record in senior financial management roles, within retail or FMCG sectors.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and cross-functional collaboration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work in a Scale-up environment with strong experience in developing policies and processes.
- Proficient in Excel, Inventory Management & Xero accounting system.
- Entrepreneurial mindset - takes action rather than waiting to be asked.
